The GB House renovation project, located in Gracia Residence, Graha Bintaro, represents a transformation of an outdated home into a bright, modern, and highly functional living space tailored for contemporary urban life. Designed and executed by YPA Architecture Indonesia in 2021, the renovation focused on enhancing spatial efficiency, optimizing natural lighting, and introducing a clean, minimalistic facade.
The front elevation was redesigned with a neutral color palette and expansive glass openings to create a visually striking yet welcoming appearance while inviting ample natural light into the interior. Inside, a double-height ceiling and central void became the focal point, supporting effective cross-ventilation and allowing sunlight to pour in throughout the day—creating a bright and airy atmosphere.
Finishing materials such as wooden floors and natural-toned cabinetry in the kitchen were carefully chosen to evoke a sense of warmth and coziness, ideal for a young modern family. Private rooms, including the bedrooms, were reoriented with direct access to the backyard, allowing a seamless indoor-outdoor connection and maximizing natural light exposure.
Overall, the GB House renovation serves as a clear example of how an existing home can be thoughtfully revitalized—offering modern comfort, improved functionality, and aesthetic value—without completely demolishing its original structure.
