Prudent House is a unique project designed by YPA Architecture Studio that combines residential and production (factory) functions in a single site in Purbalingga, Central Java. Designed and built in 2024, this building meets the owner’s need for a comfortable and efficient place to live as well as a productive work area, without losing its contextual and aesthetic architectural character.
With a factory area spanning 307.5 square meters, the project seamlessly integrates domestic spaces with industrial zones. The building’s architecture blends modern tropical style with traditional Javanese elements, evident in the use of red brick gates with the distinctive gabled roof ornamentation of a joglo house, marking the entrance to the residential area. Meanwhile, the warehouse and work areas are designed with a functional and efficient industrial approach, while still considering natural lighting and air circulation through large openings and high ceilings..
The interior spaces are designed with abundant natural light thanks to numerous glass openings and optimal cross-ventilation, creating a comfortable and bright atmosphere throughout the day. The use of local materials such as exposed brick and wood panels adds a warm and eco-friendly touch while reinforcing the local identity within a contemporary design context..
Prudent House is not merely a hybrid between a residence and a warehouse but a representation of an adaptive architectural approach to modern productivity needs and personal comfort. This project reflects YPA Architecture Studio’s commitment to prioritizing function, comfort, and architectural value that harmonizes with the surrounding environment and the specific needs of the client.
