Pesantren Tahfiz Difabel is an inclusive education project specifically designed for students with disabilities to memorize the Qur’an. This project is the result of collaboration between YPA Architecture Studio and BAZNAS DKI Jakarta, with the aim of creating a friendly, comfortable, and accessible learning environment for all students.

An inclusive Pesantren Tahfiz Difabel building designed for students with disabilities, featuring universal design principles such as accessible ramps, guiding blocks, and disability-friendly facilities.

By carrying out universal design principles, this pesantren prioritizes accessibility through wide circulation paths, ramps that meet inclusion standards, as well as guiding blocks and braille signage for visually impaired students. In addition, the design of classrooms and dormitories is adjusted to support the needs of students with various physical limitations, including optimal acoustics for students with hearing impairments and disability-friendly sanitation facilities.

In terms of sustainability, the building utilizes natural lighting through skylights and optimal window openings, and applies a cross ventilation system to maintain indoor air quality. Islamic architectural elements are also integrated in the design, such as the use of Islamic geometric motifs and the orientation of the building towards the Qibla.

Pesantren Tahfiz Difabel is not only a center for inclusion-based education, but also a model for the construction of other educational facilities that are more friendly to people with disabilities. With a design approach that prioritizes function, aesthetics, and sustainability, this project is expected to have a positive impact on the development of inclusive education in Indonesia.
